As the 2011 NHL All-Star Game approaches, some fans are starting to stir over the game's new format. It involves two appointed captains picking the teams during a televised show the Friday before the game.
It's the first year for this format in the game, and there is some anticipation building over how it will all play out. The latest step in the process occurred Tuesday morning, when the league announced the two team captains.
To the surprise of few, Eric Staal, captain of the Carolina Hurricanes, will be one of the captains in the All-Star Game, set for Raleigh on Jan. 30. He will be joined by iconic Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom.
