Injury update: Jakovic to miss Canadian qualifiers

Despite having a bye week and the lack of a League fixture until September 10 at Chivas USA, the Black-and-Red are anything but idle this week. Five players are currently with their respective national sides, as 2010 MLS Rookie of the Year Andy Najar recently received his first call-up from Honduras, and goalkeeper Billl Hamid earned his second selection to Jurgen Klinsmann's U.S. National Team squad.

Blake Brettscheider Q&A

WASHINGTON ? It?s always an uphill battle for any Supplemental Draft pick to make a roster, let alone make an impact in MLS.

But D.C. United rookie forward Blake Brettschneider has managed to do just that in 2011, becoming one of only a few Supplemental picks to see significant action this season. In 11 appearances (eight starts), the University of South Carolina product has a goal and two assists.

MLSsoccer.com caught up with the rookie as he prepares for the final 10 games of the season.
