Colton Orr's Knee-on-Knee Hit Knocks Logan Couture From Game

Logan CoutureThe San Jose Sharks lost their fifth consecutive game along with another young forward as Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson celebrated his 600th career win on Tuesday.

Logan Couture, one of the leading candidates for the Calder Trophy, writhed in pain on ice and skated off gingerly after Toronto Maples Leafs enforcer Colton Orr delivered a knee-on-knee hit midway through the second period. Orr was tagged with a kneeing minor penalty.

"You got a guy who doesn't play and he gets one of our best players," Sharks forward Ryane Clowe told reporters after his team's 4-2 loss. "What do you have to do for five minutes? Take a guy's knee completely off his leg? I don't know. It should have been a game (misconduct)."

Couture, who slammed one of his gloves to the ground as he entered the locker room, did not return. The team announced that he had a lower-body injury. Sharks coach Todd McLellan told reporters after the game that Couture was still being examined and he'd know more on Wednesday.
